Solutions for Artificial Hip Implant Prosthesis Testing

Hip replacement surgery has been one of the most successful operations in all of medicine since it was first performed in 1960.  More than 285,000 total hip replacements are performed in the United States each year, which is why, exceptional performance of an artificial hip implant is critical.  Endurance performance requirements have been developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to verify that artificial hips can support the normal and abnormal wear it will experiences post-surgery.

  • ISO 7206 Part 6: Determination of endurance properties of head and neck region of stemmed femoral components
  • ISO 7206 Part 8: Endurance performance of stemmed femoral components with application of torsion
