ISO 21182 | Conveyor Belts | Coefficient of Friction Testing
This ISO 21182 standard specifies a test method for determining the static and dynamic coefficients of friction of light conveyor belts. Utilizing a universal testing machine equipped with the coefficient of friction fixture designed according to ISO 21182, the coefficient of friction values are determined using the calculated frictional force and normal force applied to the test sample.
Before conducting ISO 21182, it is important to read the entire specification in the relevant ISO publication.
ISO 21182 | Conveyor Belts | Coefficient of Friction Testing
- Cut a test piece from the full thickness of the conveyor belt in compliance with ISO 21182. Each test piece must be new and must only be used once.
- Clamp the test specimen to the test piece table, connect pulling cables to the metallic test panel, and place the weight on the panel.
- Adjust speed of pulling mechanism to the required speeds as specified per static or dynamic friction test requirements.
- i) For dynamic coefficient of friction, ensure the path of motion is 300 mm.
- ii) For static coefficient of friction, stop the procedure as soon as the test panel begins to move.
