How to Perform ISO 12625-4 Tissue Paper and Tissue Products Tensile Testing

Home / Testing Standards / ISO 12625-4 Tissue Paper and Tissue Products Tensile Testing

Summary of Test

ISO 12625-4 is a tensile test used to determine the tensile properties of tissue and tissue products. The test is performed at a constant rate of elongation. For consistent results, users should pay careful attention when aligning the specimens in the grips. ADMET software can easily provide all of the required calculations in this test.

Before conducting ISO 12625-4, it is important to read the entire specification in the relevant ISO publication.

Recommended Equipment

Testing Procedure

  1. Prepare and condition the test specimens according to the dimensions and guidance described in the test standard.
  2. Move the grips to the required grip separation and insert the specimen into the grips. Carefully align the specimen in the direction of the applied force and ensure there is no slack in the material.
  3. Apply load to the specimen at the constant rate of grip separation defined in the standard.
  4. Continue test until specimen failure, while ensuring that the specimen does not slip in the jaws or break at the clamping area.

Calculations:

  • Tensile Strength at Break
  • Elongation at Break
  • Tensile Energy Absorption
